About Me

IMG_1563.jpeg

Hi, I’m Janis Dunckel, the artist and heart behind Flora Cora Creations. Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember — I was raised by two creative parents, one an established fine artist here in Atlanta, the other a designer holding seven patents. Creating something every single day just became who I am.

My path has taken me from art director to news artist for The New York Times, and from teaching my very first class at just 16 years old to teaching in Paris, California, New York City, Connecticut, and right here in Georgia — including many years teaching and running a studio in Decatur with my niece. I’ve had the joy of sharing art with people of every age.

Through it all, one thing has stayed true: I love using art to bring people together. That’s exactly what inspired Flora Cora Creations — creating playful, joyful experiences where art becomes a shared moment, not just something to look at.

When I’m not creating, you’ll find me hiking, enjoying nature, doing art and making time for the people and moments that matter most — all things that keep me inspired and grounded.
